FIELD: tunnel construction, more specifically tunneling shields used in construction of large length tunnels under sea or rover bottom without ground excavation in conditions of shallow location of shield from bottom of sea or river to tunnel dome whose height ranges from 2 to 10 m depending on type of ground and bottom profile. SUBSTANCE: mechanized shield consists of rock breaking member, shield safety shell for safe performance of operations and location of traveling mechanisms installed on supporting ring, compacting device for prevention of rocks to get in tunnel and containing solid partition separating working zone from break age face with nozzles mounted over partition perimeter. Breaking member is made in form of conical faceplate of reverse rotation with cutting members and blade cells supplying diluted ground to shield dome part and create conditions of ground spreading behind tunnel and water spaces. Diameter of conical faceplate may exceed shield diameter. In this version of shield design, shield axis is displaced through value of diameters difference.
