METHOD FOR PREVENTING AND TREATING LEUKOSIS IN CATTLE Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: veterinary science. SUBSTANCE: the suggested method deals with introduction of medicinal preparation; additionally, one should introduce iodinated common salt, and metronidazole is used as medicinal preparation. Moreover, metronidazole and iodinated common salt should be introduced by courses once daily for 30 d at 6- mo-long intervals. Moreover, with prophylactic purpose introduction of metronidazole and iodinated common salt for cattle should be carried out since 6-mo-aged to 18-moaged period in the following dosages (g/animal): metronidazole 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0, iodinated common salt 30.0, 50.0 and 70.0; moreover, for 12-mo-aged animals one should additionally introduce sulfanilamide preparation in dosages of 0.5 and1.0 mg/animal, correspondingly. Moreover, with curative purpose metronidazole is introduced at the dosage of 1.0 g/animal, and iodinated common salt - at 70-90 g/animal, moreover, additionally, one should introduce sulfanilamide preparation at the dosage of 1.0 g/animal. Therapy course is repeated during 2 years. The present method is of high efficiency in treating and preventing cattle leukosis due to applying preparations of antibacterial action at the background of iodine deficiency elimination along prophylactic treatment of cattle youngsters for the purpose to heal the whole herd.
