FIELD: production of iodites of light metals used for iodometric analysis; medical industry; production of mineral salts. SUBSTANCE: proposed method is based on practically quantitative interaction of molecular iodine dissolved in preliminarily dehydrated paraffin, cycloparaffin or aromatic hydrocarbon or their mixtures or ether with grounded metal taken at stoichiometric ratio with oxidant. Process is performed in vertical beads mill containing glass beads used as abrasion material at room temperature till complete absence of iodine in clarified mass of samples. Upon completion of process, reaction mass is separated from glass beads, after which solid iodite phase is filtered off and filtrate is returned to repeated process.
