DEVICE FOR MAKING AND BREAKING OF PIPES Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: drilling equipment; applicable in drilling rigs of horizontal and vertical drilling for mechanization of assembly and disassembly of drill strings. SUBSTANCE: device has power cylinder whose rod is kinematically connected with the first and second pipes with help of clamp and bell-crank. The first pipe has threaded hole, and the second pipe has threaded head with flats for wrench. Device is provided with turning sleeve, axle and friction member. Turning sleeve is installed on the first pipe, and axle, on sleeve. Clamp is hinged with axle and rod of power cylinder, and capable of rigid external contact with the first pipe. One arm of bell- crank located on body hinge support is connected with power cylinder. The other arm is made in form of open spanner and may be engageable with the second pipe. Friction member is located coaxially on turning sleeve and braked lightly relative to body. Body has stop to limit sleeve turning. Device allows breaking of pipe string by means of one power cylinder that materially simplifies design of drill and reduces its cost and expenditures in well drilling.
