FIELD: electrical engineering; high-running-length and high-speed tractive drive mechanisms. SUBSTANCE: movable magnetic circuit of tractive chain electromagnet is made in the form of set of ferromagnetic strips with lugs spaced apart at equal angular distances over circumference and restricting clamps disposed in straight guide slots of cylindrical casing wall with sequential displacement in helical line. Extreme strips are secured on movable link and fixed in position relative to magnetic circuit, total quantity of air gaps between ferromagnetic strips being dependent of link travel. Movable magnetic circuit may be made in the form of ferromagnetic rings with link disposed inside or in the form of ferromagnetic rings enclosing magnetizing coil. With inner movable magnetic circuit connected to one link and outer one, to second link travel of links is doubled. In addition ferromagnetic strips and rings may be provided with conical or annular sag or with bent grip in the form of clamp. Relatively insulated nonmagnetic metal inserts may be mounted in straight guide slots of cylindrical casing wall.
