FIELD: polymer materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to developing vitrifiable material based on organic glasses, including oriented glasses, used for cladding glass in air, water, and overland transport. Organic glass manufacture comprising in-bulk polymerization of pure methyl methacrylate in polymerization mold in presence of radical-type initiator and depolymerization is characterized by that two-step polymerization is carried out in presence of absorber of electromagnetic waves in far ultraviolet region: first at 24- 40 C for 3-8 h followed by cooling to 18-30 C and then at the same temperature until polymer is formed and depolymerization is carried out at 120-125 C for 3-10 h followed by cooling to temperature no higher than 40 C to give organic glass sheet. The latter is then subjected to heat treatment at 145-155 C followed by cooling to ≤ 40 C. Methods for manufacturing oriented organic glass and product are also provided.
