FIELD: agriculture, in particular, selection of feijoa. SUBSTANCE: method involves growing plants from seeds and evaluating their early maturation by measuring coherence extent of optical flux passed through leaf. The lesser is coherence attenuating extent, the higher is early maturation extent of given form of feijoa. Method is used for producing of homogeneous planting material with regard to fruit ripening rate.
