FIELD: ultrasonic treatment ; acoustic energy transfer to liquid media in various process devices. SUBSTANCE: proposed through-type ultrasonic converter is, essentially, metal cylinder made of acoustically transparent material that mounts dipoles. Cylinder is made in the form of thick-walled tube of material possessing low acoustic impedance; it has cylindrical inner surface and polyhedral outer surface, polyhedron sides being divided by longitudinal slots on edges and annular slots into radiating sections to form composite half-wave dipoles together with piezoids secured thereon and quarter-wave steel straps, depth of longitudinal and annular slots amounting to at least half the tube thickness; inner side of thick- walled tube carries thin-walled sleeve whose length is greater than that of thick-walled tube; long converters may have thick-walled tube assembled of separate circular components assembled of one or more rows of radially arranged dipoles mounted on one sleeve; quantity of dipoles may be smaller than that of radiating sections.
