FIELD: leather industry. SUBSTANCE: invention provides method that can be used in manufacture of leather from cattle and sheep hides, e.g. for uppers, clothes, and haberdashery. Hides are washed and subjected to soaking, after which treated with potassium permanganate and sodium carbonate aqueous solution at pH 6-9 followed by concentrating potassium permanganate to 0.02-0.05 g/l for 1 h at 28-36 C and liquid coefficient equal to 1. Hides are then unhaired in aqueous solution of enzyme preparation for 2.5-3.5 h at 28-36 C and finally limed with sodium sulfide and calcium carbonate aqueous solution.
