FIELD: mechanical engineering; load transportation facilities. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for transportation of unit loads and it can be used for interstation transportation of articles on cars in flexible manufacturing systems. Proposed load-leading rod conveyor contains cars installed on guides, car drive with rod installed for reciprocating. Each car is provided with coupler made in form of turnable element getting into engagement with rod of turnable element and installed on axle by means of controllable reversible freewheeling mechanism. Axle is rigidly secured on car. Rod is made in form of toothed rack or smooth-surface pin, and turnable element is made in form of toothed wheel or friction roller. Controllable reversible freewheeling mechanism is of roller type. Invention provides movement of cars over route both in straight and reverse directions at required phases of movement and stops at constant oscillations of rod for operation in flexible manufacturing systems.
