LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCE OF HELICOPTER EXTERNAL STORE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: aviation; evacuation of people from ice-floes, mountains, uninhabited regions, tall house roofs which are afire, islands in mud flows and flood. SUBSTANCE: proposed appliance on external store of helicopter 1 is placed on solid surface by its bottom 2. When lines 4 are slackened, side wall 3 lowers under action of its weight forming passage for evacuation of people. Bearing framework 6 with casing 7 secured on it is used for protection of people in life-saving appliance against flow of air from helicopter rotor. During ascent of helicopter 1, lines 4 are tightened up raising side wall 3 till its upper contour gets in contact with casing 7 forming enclosed space protected against external factors (wind, fire, smoke). After raising of side wall 3, helicopter 1 raises life-saving appliance by load line 8 connecting flexible member 5 of external store of helicopter 1 with bearing framework 6. After transportation of life-saving appliance on helicopter external store, it is placed on solid surface for evacuation of people. Line 8 and flexible member 5 are slackened first, after which lines 4 are released, thus making side wall 3 lower opening passage from life-saving appliance.
