FIELD: converter engineering; power supplied for aluminum electrolysis series. SUBSTANCE: proposed multiphase power converter substation incorporates twelve-phase converters of p design alternates with respect to phase-shifting part of converter transformer power winding connected to at least one part of low-voltage winding of step-down power transformer; twelve-phase converters are installed so that difference in positive voltage shift angles α between adjacent pairs of twelve-phase converters is minimal and if angle α exceeds 15 electrical degrees, its actual value is found from equation αact = 30 el. deg. - α. EFFECT: enhanced power characteristics including power factor and efficiency. 1 cl, 2 dwg
