FIELD: analytical chemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to indicator compositions and can be used for determination of molybdenum (VI) in aqueous solutions, in particular, in natural and sewage waters. Indicator composition for determination of molybdenum (VI) ions in aqueous solutions comprises anion-exchange resin AV-17-10P as sorbent, organic reagent alizarin S, hydrochloric acid and water in the following ratio of components, wt.-%: anion- exchange resin, AV-17-10P, 0.4; alizarin S, 0.0007; hydrochloric acid, 0.007-0.02; water, the balance. Invention provides expanding linear range in assay of molybdenum concentrations in aqueous solutions and reduced labor intensity, reduced limit detection and increase approximate analysis.
