WIRE ROPE SEALING DEVICE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: oil producing industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sealing facilities, namely, to sealing of movable members and it can be used in wire-rope-container technologies and for sealing movable wire rope in wellhead. Proposed device has housing with fastening unit, seal with flexible envelope, and intensifier connected by tube with inner space of flexible envelope. Said device is furnished with additional intensifier and additional seal with additional flexible envelope connected by tube with additional intensifier to provide sealing of movable wire rope. Seals are furnished with replaceable sealing members enclosing movable wire rope by inner surface and engaging from outside with corresponding flexible envelopes of seals. Intensifier exposed to action of well pressure has amplifier consisting of cylinder with piston. Additional intensifier and its amplifier are exposed to action of external adjusting pressure, and working volumes of each intensifier communicating with corresponding flexible envelopes of seals do not exceed corresponding initial volume of replaceable sealing member. Each intensifier is provided with wear indicator interacting with replaceable sealing member made in form of intensifier piston position indicator. Space with drain channel for collecting and removing liquid is located between seals. If necessary, member of additional seals with additional sealing envelopes with replaceable sealing members and corresponding additional intensifier can be increased. Use of sealing device of proposed design makes it possible to isolate movable flexible carriers with complex insulated surface, for instance, wire ropes.
