SUBSTANCE: method for determining mechanical loss Pm in capacitor-type induction motor involves measurement of negative acceleration -(dn/dt) in self-braking mode at rated speed nr and calculation of this loss from formula Pm = -C nr (dn/dt), where C is self-braking constant; generator brake moment is excluded from measurements; to this end auxiliary phase winding is first deenergized, then supply voltage is disconnected, and self-braking of motor is effected.

EFFECT: enhanced measurement accuracy.
