FIELD: production of cord connections from glass fibers.

SUBSTANCE: method involves stretching glass fibers arranged in parallel with one another by means of rotating stretching surface; removing said fibers after predetermined time interval from stretching surface; after removal of glass fibers from rotating surface, connecting said fibers in direction transverse to direction of rotation of rotary stretching surface and stretching in direction parallel to radial direction with respect to stretching surface; forming air pad by means of which glass fibers are amortized upon turning thereof. Rotation is provided with radius and at an angle at which at least predetermined part of glass fibers are not broken. Method further involves subjecting connected glass fibers to joining process and applying preparation composition. Glass fibers are joined by controlled air flow. All glass fibers are moved in each case only in one plane except when glass fibers are moved during joining process. Apparatus has rotating stretching surface, glass fiber removal device and guiding device adjoining to glass fiber removal device and oriented forward. Guiding device has at least partly funnel-shaped construction and turning portion has deflecting cavity. Guiding device has turning portion arranged behind glass fiber removal device and having rotation angle below 120 deg. Finishing device is positioned behind guiding device in direction of movement. Glass fibers are made from C-glass.

EFFECT: increased efficiency and strength of yarn.
