FIELD: applying of images onto web surface having non-planar printing surface, surface with irregular heat conductivity or surface chemically incompatible with dye used.
SUBSTANCE: method involves stages of preliminary heating of first surface of web for producing of heated web; arranging side of tape comprising dye in opposed relation to first side of heated web in contact zone; bringing thermal printing head in contact with tape at side opposite to dye containing side; moving web relative to thermal printing head; selectively applying heat and pressure to tape local sites at side adjoining thermal printing head in contact zone for transfer of dye from said tape onto heated web.
EFFECT: provision for producing of high-quality images owing to improved dye permeability through substrate surface and elimination of conditions causing formation of voids in printed image.
