FIELD: rocketry; guided projectiles.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes furnishing the electric signal for ignition of igniter squib, setting in motion the control surface opening mechanism, releasing the slots on fairing of actuator unit by breaking-off the sealing components and opening and locking the control surfaces. Opening the control surfaces is performed at time delay after breaking-off the sealing components. Actuator unit includes fairing with slots closed by sealing components for extension of spring-loaded control surfaces located on frames and folded inside actuator unit. Control surface opening mechanism has base with igniter squib and control surface moving members. Mounted on frame in area of slots of fairing are plates locked relative to frame by means of shear members having longitudinal slots for control surfaces, stops for free ends of control surfaces and thrust projections supported by pistons mounted in base perpendicularly to longitudinal axis of projectile and provided with slots for control surfaces. Clearance is provided between bottom of piston slot and leading edge of control surfaces. Pistons and control surfaces are made from different materials; control surfaces are made from harder material and pistons are made from softer material.

EFFECT: enhanced reliability of actuator.
