FIELD: fragmentation ammunition, in which the fragmentation envelope of preset crushing serves as the main source of the hitting elements.

SUBSTANCE: the fragmentation ammunition body has an outer wall and a fragmentation envelope manufactured of a spiral wound-on lengthened element of a small cross-section. Cuts are made on the lengthened element, the brittleness of the surface layer of the lengthened elements in the zone of cuts is higher than that in its middle, the thickness of the brittle surface layer in the zone of cuts makes up 0.15 to 0.36 of the thickness of the fragmentation envelope. The method for manufacture of the fragmentation envelope consists in the fact that cuts on the lengthened element with a small cross-section are drifted, and it is wound up on the mandrel, then the obtained fragmentation envelope is squeezed and subjected to cementation with a subsequent hardening.

EFFECT: enhanced quantity of slaughter fragments, with the strength characteristics, as well as close grouping of shots and the range of fire remaining unchanged.
