CENTRIFUGAL MACHINE FOR PURIFICATION OF LIQUIDS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2240183 C2

FIELD: separation of mixed fluids by density.

SUBSTANCE: the invention is dealt with devices used for separation of mixed fluids by density, in particular, to a centrifugal machine for purification of liquids. It may be used in the systems of purification of the lubricating-cooling liquids, lubricating or edible oils and other liquids. According to the invention, the centrifugal machine contains a sealed cavity, where a rotor of the centrifugal machine is located, is divided by a partition located under the bottom of the rotor into two parts - a part of the cavity near the rotor and a part of the cavity for the liquid discharge. The liquid discharge part of the cavity is used for collection of the purified liquid coming from a hydraulic drive of the rotor and from leakages of bearing supports of the rotor and for withdrawal of this liquid into a tank for a purified liquid collection. The water steam from a hermetically sealed vessel with water packaged with the centrifugal machine is fed into the part of the cavity near the rotor. Because of lower as compared with the air viscosity and a density the water steam creates a smaller aerodynamic resistance to rotation of the rotor. The steam is withdrawn from the part of the cavity near the rotor by a jet type pump. To prevent an exchange of mediums between the both parts of the cavity the rotor of the centrifugal machine and the partition are conjugated by a butt labyrinth-type seal, and the cavities are connected to each other by a leveling pipe. One end of the leveling pipe is connected to the steam withdrawal channel going to the jet type pump, and the other end - to the body of the centrifugal machine in a zone of the discharge cavity below the level of location of the partition. The hermetically sealed vessel with water is made as a pipe with a hollow wall enveloping the rotor with formation of a clearance with its lateral surface. The partition has a central hole to locate there the hydraulic drive components and the bearing supports of the rotor. The smallest diameter of the butt labyrinth type seal is equal to the diameter of the central hole of the partition. Due to such design of the centrifugal machine it is possible to decrease the aerodynamic drag torque to rotation of the rotor and as a result of it the frequency of its rotation and efficiency of separation are increased.

EFFECT: the centrifugal machine design allows to decrease aerodynamic drag torque to rotation of the rotor, to increase the frequency of its rotation and efficiency of separation of a liquid from steam.
