FIELD: power engineering; heating water for domestic needs.
SUBSTANCE: proposed floating screen connected at bottom to cold water inlet and on top, to hot water outlet has composite water heater provided with float and built of top, bottom, and intermediate cylinders loosely joined together by means of upper edges of cylinders flanged inside and lower edges flanged outside; bottom and top cylinders are provided with liquid passing ports and limiting projections on lower edge of port at top cylinder and on upper edge of port, at bottom cylinder; top cylinder is suspended from float and bottom one contacts tank bottom; each cylinder has diameter smaller than that of cylinder disposed lower. Proposed self-adjusting floating screen depends for its operation on ability of heated liquid to go up due to reduced density and mass, and due to escaping vapor bubbles and functions to convey hot liquid through top cylinder to upper part of tank; cold liquid runs by gravity through bottom cylinder to screen and is transferred to heater while displacing hot liquid to its outlet. In this way screen organizes continuous convective liquid flow that speeds up heating process and provides for saving electric power.
EFFECT: reduced power requirement due to uniform stirring of liquid being heated.
