FIELD: foundry, namely casting pistons of internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: chill mold includes mold halves with protective jackets, molding core and molding bottom. Feeders are provided in bottom. Assembled mold is dipped into melt fed through bottom feeders into mold. After crystallization of casting, mold is raised and mold halves are parted. Casting hold by shrinkage on core separates from bottom and moves upwards. Intermediate stops rest upon stationary one and by means of knocking out member casting is removed from core.
EFFECT: simplified mechanism for knocking out casting, enhanced operational reliability and lowered size of said mechanism.
