FIELD: production of electrolytic chrome used in metallurgy for melting special alloys having no iron.
SUBSTANCE: process for producing electrolytic chrome by continuous method comprises steps of preparing feed solution being almost saturated and having mole relation of chrome sulfates and ammonium sulfates equal approximately to equimolar one; supplying it to cathode space of diaphragm electrolyzer; performing electrolysis and receiving waste catholyte and anolyte; using solution containing chrome (III) sulfates and chrome (II) sulfates, ammonium sulfate and in addition chrome (III) formiate as feed solution; preparing such feed solution by adding chromic acid into waste anolyte; reducing chrome (IV) to chrome (III) with use of organic reducing agent at temperature not exceeding 70°C and then mixing received solution with waste catholyte. Sugar, glucose, molasses, starch, Formalin, preferably formaldehyde as organic reducing agent. Electrolysis is realized at density of cathode electric current 7.6 -10 A/dm2, temperature 55 -56°C and pH of catholyte 2.41 -2.6.
EFFECT: reduced cost price, improved quality of product, simplified technique for preparing feed solution from chrome-containing raw material due to elimination of several stages of process, lowered content of iron impurity in ready product, decreased power consumption for electrolysis.
