FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, dielectric equipment for separation of seeds of farm crops and other plants.

SUBSTANCE: dielectric separator has feeder, horizontal rotating drum of dielectric material disposed under feeder and equipped with drive, electrodes of alternating polarity placed onto drum surface in the form of open double-wound winding and connected to high-voltage source, cleaning brush, and separation product receivers. Surfaces of electrodes are covered with electrically isolating material. Triangular or trapezium-shaped projections of dielectric material are formed on drum surface along its generatrix, with height of projections being 6-12 mm, when diameter of drum is 250-340 mm. Electrodes of alternating polarity are composed of wires of different diameters and laid transverse to projections over their apexes. Electrodes of smaller diameter are connected to high variable-voltage source, and electrodes of larger diameter are earthed. Ratio of diameters of electrodes is (1.78-2.14):1. Horizontal drum has rotational speed of 8-34 rev/min. Variable voltage supplied to electrodes is from 100 to 5,000 V at frequency of from 40 to 85 Hz.

EFFECT: increased efficiency in seed separation, increased completeness of seed separation by germination capacity, germinating power, initial growth power, equality of weight and sizes, wider range of sizes of seeds to be separated, increased resulting force of interaction between electrodes and seeds under separation process, and reduced voltage supplied to electrodes.
