FIELD: paper-and-pulp industry.
SUBSTANCE: paper is made from suspension containing cellulose fibers and optionally fillers by way of adding to suspension at least one cationic organic polymer and aqueous silica-containing composition including anionic naphthalenesulfonate-formaldehyde condensate and silica-based anionic particles. Composition is characterized by weight ratio of the above condensate to silica-based particles within a range between 0.2:1 and 99:1 and summary amount of the condensate and silica-based particles constituting at least 0,01% if the total mass of aqueous silica-containing composition, provided that composition essentially contains sizing substance coming into reaction with cellulose. Invention also covers aqueous silica-containing composition including anionic naphthalenesulfonate-formaldehyde condensate and silica-based anionic particles in aggregated or microgel form in above-indicated proportions. Aqueous silica-containing composition is prepared by mixing aqueous solution of above condensate having conductivity below 20 mSm/cm with and alkali-stabilized aqueous sol containing silica-based particles.
EFFECT: enabled manufacture of paper with improved dehydration and/or water-retention characteristics and increased stability when storing substances promoting dehydration and water-retention.
