SURGICAL METHOD FOR TREATING THE CASES OF BULLOUS KERATOPATHY Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves removing injured epithelium all over the whole ill eye cornea surface. Epithelium flap is taken from lower healthy eye cornea sector by making two notches one of which is directed along chord from 4.30 to 7.30 o'clock and the second one along the limb. Large area of healthy epithelium being found impossible to take, 3-4 small islets of 2x1 mm are taken. The taken epithelium is laid in the center of dry de-epithelialized ill eye cornea and covered with alloplant making plastic repair of round cornea zone of 14-16 mm diameter. The alloplant is fixed to the cornea with four interrupted sutures. Three days later the sutures are taken off.

EFFECT: accelerated cornea epithelialization; improved vision acuity.
