APPARATUS FOR REMOVAL OF TOP FROM GROWING ROOT, PREFERABLY CARROT Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, top removal equipment.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus has frame, carrier wheels, and spring-loaded units. Apparatus is equipped with central and side root top lifters successively mounted on frame, and spring-loaded units made in the form of disk rotors and rotating in opposite directions. Spring-loaded units are equipped with drives, working members located at their peripheral portions and adapted for removal of root tops, drive-free brushes axially positioned under disk rotors, and root top declining members arranged in opposed relation on frame and above disk rotors. One of carrier wheels is mounted in longitudinal-vertical plane of symmetry of frame. Other carrier wheel is fixed at end of outside beam, which may be laterally retracted from transverse beam of frame. Axially aligned disk rotors and drive-free rotating brushes arranged under the latter, are connected through hangers and pivot joints to tine of carrier wheel, which is positioned in longitudinal-vertical plane of symmetry of frame.

EFFECT: reduced labor intensity for removal of top from roots, as well as for additional cleaning and sorting operations, and increased quality of harvested fruits.
