FIELD: mattresses for beds, including home, orthopedic, hospital mattresses, and also for resting in air and on water, for rescue works etc.

SUBSTANCE: mattress has more than two layers of similar or different materials. Top layer is made thinner and more pliable, and other layers are made thicker and more rigid. Space between layers is filled with similar or different fillers, which may be in any aggregate state. Different fillers may be provided in one and the same space between said layers, said fillers reacting with one another under predetermined conditions. Liquid or gaseous fillers may be under pressure. Vacuum may be created between layers. Special isolation may be used for preventing liquid or gaseous fillers from leakage out of space between layers. Layers may be formed continuous and smooth or perforated, may be provided with various relief of their surfaces, may be made transparent, matted or multicolored, may be reinforced, or equipped with covering, may be connected by gluing, spray deposition or any other suitable process. Individual layers may be replaced. Space between layers may be divided into several sections with similar or different fillers. Heating members and special purpose devices may be built into mattresses for transmitting signals to central observing, signaling, controlling and regulating station. For decorative purposes, artificial algae, floating figures etc may be provided under transparent top layer. Also, illumination device may be used, including bacterial illumination device. Various damping members may be secured under layers in carcass, including adjustable members or members adapted for different force depending upon mattress length and width.
