SUBSTANCE: proposed three-phase double-layer lap winding with 2p = 10c poles in z = 72c slots and coils grouped in row 5 5 5 5 4 repeated 3c times is made of 15c concentric coil groups numbered 1G through 15(c)G at mean slot pitch of coils yc = 7. Novelty is that in order to reduce differential dissipation σd in m' = three-band fractional-pitch (q = 24/5) lap winding, concentric coil groups 1G, 4G in first-grouping coil groups 1G through 5G have slot pitch ym = 11 - 2(i - 1) with internal-coil turn number (1 - x)wc, and remaining coil groups have slot pitch ys = 7 and turn numbers (1 - x)wc and(1+ x)wc in first and third coils of coil group 2G, turn numbers (1 + x)wc and(1- x)wc in third and fifth coils of coil group 3G, turn numbers (1 + x)wc in second and third coils of group 3G. Turn number in remaining coils of concentric coil groups is wc, mentioned distribution of coils with unequal turn number being repeated in each next grouping, where c = 1, 2, 3, ...; i = 1 through 5; 2wc is turn number in each slot; x = 0.51.
EFFECT: reduced differential dissipation in fractional-pitch lap winding.
