SUBSTANCE: basic amino acid or salt of basic amino acid is added into cigarette or cigarette filter. It is desirable that basic amino acid or salt of basic amino acid be added in an amount of at least 1 mg/cigarette. It is also desirable that basic amino acid or salt of basic amino acid be added to cigarette or cigarette filter in the form of aqueous solution. Also, surfactant may be added to cigarette or cigarette filter in conjunction with basic amino acid or salt of basic amino acid.

EFFECT: effective reduction of aldehyde content in cigarette smoke of main flow allowing cigarette taste not to be deteriorated.
