FIELD: sea transport.

SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method iceberg is chosen in flight to estimate mass and dimensions characteristics of iceberg and them is landed onto iceberg to determine control points of anchor wells with anchor devices into which said devices are fitted. Cables are fastened to couplers of anchor devices connecting them with aerostat-and-sail system prepared for transportation of iceberg to place of destination by filling aerostats with light gas to bring sail system in raised state. Course of iceberg travel is maintained by remote control of sail system provided from escort ship. At arrival of iceberg at place of destination in continental part of tropic of Cancer or Tropic of Capricorn iceberg is cut into transportable parts deliver to platforms where thermal conditions of surrounding medium change phase state of solid iceberg into drinking water which is then transported under pressure by pump system along pipeline laid in continental part of shelf to consumers on continent.

EFFECT: accelerated transportation of ice to place of destination for use as source of ecologically clean drinking water.
