FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the improved method for synthesis of meta-phenoxyphenol used as an intermediate substance in organic synthesis. Method is carried out by interaction of bromobenzene with resorcinol in the presence of potassium carbonate and a complex catalyst in dimethylformamide (DMFA) medium. Method involves using the chelate complex of copper (I) chloride with 2,2'-dipyridyl as a catalyst in the mole ratio of components bromobenzene : resorcinol : potassium carbonate : copper (I) chloride : 2,2'-dipyridyl = 1.0:1.0-1.5:1.0-1.5:0.01:0.01, respectively. Process is carried out at temperature 110-120°C for 0.45-1.0 h. The synthesized product is isolated by distillation in vacuum. Invention provides increased yield and improved quality of the end product.
