FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in spark ignition systems of internal combustion engine operating at higher compression ratio. Proposed ignition system coil of internal combustion engine has case accommodating core, primary and secondary windings, forms on which windings are arranged, device to supply low voltage to windings and device to remove high voltage from coil. Primary and secondary windings are separated by electric insulating material, compressed air being used as insulating material. Case is sealed and it is furnished with locking device to take in compressed air. Slots are made in winding forms. Primary and secondary windings, and turns in primary and secondary windings are insulated by compressed air. Shutoff device can be made in form of check valve. Section of sealed case by plane perpendicular to axis of symmetry of core can be either round or rectangular. Sealed case can be made of metal or of electric insulating material.
EFFECT: prevention of breakdown of ignition coil insulation, improved efficiency and reliability both of ignition system and internal combustion engine as a whole.
