FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: dust catching apparatus has first dust catching member for filtering out foreign matter from air, second dust catching member for filtering out foreign matter from air passed through first dust catching member, dust catching container having first and second dust catching chambers corresponding to first and second dust catching members, respectively, and air flow guiding plate positioned above dust catching container and adapted for guiding of air passed through first dust catching chamber into second dust catching chamber, said air guiding plate covering first and second dust catching chambers. First and second dust catching chambers accumulate foreign matter filtered out by means of respective first and second dust catching members in state, wherein parts of respective first and second members are disposed in respective first and second dust catching chambers, said chambers being aligned with respect to one another. According to one of versions, dust catching apparatus has lower cover for opening and closing of lower part of dust catching container, a plurality of small cyclones protruding downward from air guiding plate and opened at side facing second dust catching chamber, discharge and guiding pipe for guiding of air passed through small cyclones upward, and discharged air guiding plate made integral with discharge and guiding pipe and adapted for covering of air flow guiding plate. Upper cover above discharged air guiding plate is adapted for guiding of air discharged to the outside through discharge pipe. Discharge and guiding pipe may be designed for accommodating part of each small cyclone. Dust catching container, air flow guiding plate and discharged air guiding plate have outside contours similar to one another.

EFFECT: increased dust catching efficiency and reduced total volume of vacuum cleaner.
