FIELD: mechanical engineering, in particular, equipment for vacuum cleaner.

SUBSTANCE: dust compacting apparatus has dust collecting container, separating plate for dividing internal space of dust collecting container into upper section for separating of foreign matter and lower section for collecting of foreign matter, and branched device for directing of air flow. Branched device has connection channel for electric engine, said channel being directed toward electric engine for generation of low pressure, dust collecting channel directed toward section for separation of foreign matter, and compaction channel directed toward section for collecting of foreign matter. Channel controlling device is designed for controlling connection between said channels of branched device. Compaction member is adapted for compaction of foreign matter collected in section for collection of foreign matter by moving separating plate into section for collection of foreign matter using low pressure supplied through compaction channel. According to one version, branched device has main channel defining openings to be connected to connection channel of electric engine, dust collecting channel and compaction channel, respectively. Channel controlling device controls opening and closing of main channel openings. Branched device has discharge pipe for connecting internal space of section for collection of foreign matter with the outside of dust collecting container. Method involves moving separating plate into section for collection of foreign matter by supplying low pressure to section for collection of foreign matter in order to compact foreign matter collected within said section.

EFFECT: increased efficiency in increasing density of foreign matter collected within vacuum cleaner and preventing exit of dust into environment during removal of collected foreign matter from vacuum cleaner.
