SUBSTANCE: invention claims method, system, transmitter and receiver for identification of element streams segmented in time with usage of service (PSI/SI) tables. Aforementioned identification provides method for separating time-segmented elementary stream from non time-segmented elementary stream by determining two descriptors in PSI/SI tables. Time segment identifier descriptor is determined, which may be used for identification of elementary streams which are segmented in time. Aforementioned descriptor is also used for providing additional information about elementary streams being transmitted by means of PSI/SI-tables. Additionally the descriptor provides mechanism for categorization of one or more single elementary streams as non time-segmented and time-segmented. Method is disclosed for identification of time-segmented elementary streams, transmitted through DVB-networks, and for providing additional information about these streams. This may be done with usage of descriptor of identifier of time segment. Descriptor may be used at least in network information table (NIT), program indication table (PMT), and IP/MAC notification table (INT).
EFFECT: segmentation in time provides a method for saving power in the receiver during broadcasting transmission.
