ROLL CALIBRATION METHOD FOR ROLLING BLANKS OF CONTINUOUSLY CAST THICK AND WIDE SLAB Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC B21B1/02

FIELD: rolling in calibrated rolls blanks of rectangular continuously cast thick and wide slab.

SUBSTANCE: rolling method comprises step of forming by means of cutting ridges wedge-shaped recesses on lower and upper surfaces of slab for producing shaped slab having hexagonal blanks mutually joined through bridge for further dividing said blanks. Wedge-shaped recess on lower and upper surfaces of slab is formed alternatively in each next stand while setting angle of cutting ridge by 1.5 times less than inclination angle of lateral walls of roll grooved pass and setting height of ridge of lower roll groove by 1.55 times more than height of ridge of upper groove. Cutting ridges may have apex angles less than 90°, the same in each next roll grooved pass. Values of axial and radial shifting of hexagonal blanks exceed thickness of non-cut portion of bridge.

EFFECT: enhanced efficiency, improved accuracy of rolling, lowered power parameters at dividing blanks, elimination of camber of blanks.
