FIELD: preparing of fresh tomatoes for storage and further usage in space feeding.
SUBSTANCE: method involves soaking and washing inspected tomatoes at predetermined mode parameters in sweet water; separating stems; sequentially holding in solutions of potassium permanganate and citric acid, and suspension of preparation produced from biomass of Pythium gracile micromycet by predetermined process; coating stem portions and adjoining surface with medicinal glue; exposing to ultraviolet radiation; packaging each tomato in smoking paper and placing in polymer tray. Method allows tomatoes shelf life to be increased to 45 days.
EFFECT: prolonged shelf life of fresh tomatoes.
