FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to the method of producing p-terphenyl through alkylation of benzol using cyclohexanol in the presence of sulphuric acid, with subsequent dehydrogenation of the obtained p-dicyclohexylbenzol in a liquid phase at atmospheric pressure and 270-320°C temperature on an aluminopalladium catalyst. The method is characterised by that, alkylation takes place with molar ratio of benzol, cyclohexanol and sulphuric acid 1;(3-5):(2-4) and 21-35°C temperature, with release of p-dicyclohexylbenzol. The p-dicyclohexylbenzol is re-crystallised before dehydrogenation.
EFFECT: use of this method speeds up the process, reduces energy expenditure and allows for obtaining a highly pure product.
