FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for making paints, surface coatings, and jet printing ink. Aqueous colloidal carbon black suspension contains: carbon black, water and azo compound of general formula 1 , where R1-R12 can be the same or different and stand for acceptor substitutes or fragments of aliphatic, aromatic hexamerous systems with acceptor, donor, hydrophilic or hydrophobic groups. Carbon black is characterised with volatile content (950C) less than 21 wt %, specific surface "БЭТ" 80-350 m2/g, dibutyl phthalate indicator 40-200 ml/100g and primary size 8-40 nm. Additionally, aqueous colloidal suspension can contain biocides, wetting agents and additives - alcohol, glycol, heterocyclic compound or glycerine. Aqueous colloidal carbon black suspension is made with dispersion of carbon black and azo compound of general formula 1 in water.

EFFECT: invention allows for higher optical density on carrier materials, e.g. paper, ensuring low zeta potential and high surface tension.
