METHOD FOR PRODUCING RECONSTITUTED TOBACCO Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A24B3/14 

FIELD: tobacco products.

SUBSTANCE: method involves hibiscus flowers extraction by non-polar liquefied gas to obtain the specified extract. Then the tobacco material is mixed up with liquid carbon dioxide, extracted and shredded by relieving periodically the pressure in the extraction mixture below the pressure of the extractant moist steam at extraction temperature. After that miscella and meal are separated, and the latter is suspended in aqueous solution of acid salt of edible polybasic acid. Then edible polyatomic alcohol is introduced into the suspension. The suspension is formed, dried to a residual humidity of 13-15%, cut and treated with the gas-liquid hibiscus flowers extract and separated CO₂ miscella by raising simultaneously the pressure. Then the pressure is relieved to atmospheric one by freezing simultaneously the soaked carbon dioxide and the latter is sublimed to obtain a target product in the residue.

EFFECT: shortening the duration of technological process and obtaining reconstituted tobacco with improved organoleptical properties.
