FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to nuclear engineering and namely to fuel elements design, which are used for forming active zones of nuclear reactors, in particular, for high energy intensive active zones of research reactors. Fuel element has cruciform cross section. Fuel element blades are narrowed at the bottom and widened in central portion. On the blade end a spacer protrusion can be made.
EFFECT: enlarging heat transfer surface of fuel element and equalising temperature across its perimetre and the possibility of augmenting specific power of reactor.
