FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing of metals and can be used for defining properties of welded-pipe metal operated in aggressive media. Proposed method of testing antirust strength comprises cutting a half-ring from the pipe, making the first cut, a concentrator, on its surface and applying strain to aforesaid half-ring ends. Aforesaid half-ring is placed into corrosive medium and held therein for preset time interval. Metal antirust strength is judged upon proceeding from the pattern of corrosive destruction. Note that, for test, a half-ring with welded seam is selected and the second cut, identical to aforesaid one, is made on its surface. Note also that one cut is made of half-ring outer surface, the second one is made on base metal, parallel to the first one. Both cuts are arranged in symmetry with the half-ring axis of symmetry and stepwise relative to each other. Welded seal antirust strength is judged upon in comparison with that of base metal.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of test.
