FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used in forging billets in press forging shops. Billet sections are subjected to solid forging. Billet side surface is subjected, at each section, to sixfold squeezing to vary billet diametre and to planishing. Billet is turned over through 60 degrees each time. Degree of each squeezing is determined from certain relationships.
EFFECT: higher quality of forged pieces.
