FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method is described for obtaining styrene polymers capable of foaming, with molecular weight Mw ranging from 190000 to 400000 g/mol, involving passing a molten styrene polymer containing a foaming agent at temperature from 140 to 300°C through a nozzle plate with openings, heated to temperature which is 20 to 100°C higher than the temperature of the said molten polymer, where the diametre of the said openings at the outlet of the nozzle assumes a maximum value of 1.5 mm, and subsequent granulation.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of the method, increased carrying capacity at given diametre of granules and uniform distribution of granule size.
