FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used in production of bolts with hexagonal head and flange by wasteless cold forming. Cylindrical head is driven on workpiece to be reduced to hexagon. In reducing, head part is formed to make hexagonal truncated pyramid with face inclination of 1-3°. Right below said part, a convex section is formed to make parabola that makes axial cross section areas equal. Convex section is conjugated with aforesaid part along radius R which is determined from the relations R-(0.01-0.1)D, where D is diametre of head base after reduction to hexagon. Volume of convex section equals that of bolt flange. Flange is finally formed with inclination angle of 15-25°. Flange work face is conjugated with bolt rod along radius Rl proceeding from the condition Rl=(0.03-0.08) d, where d is bolt rod diametre.
EFFECT: higher quality and strength.
