FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: calliper has a hollow housing with a bearing face and three radial holes equidistant from the bearing face in a plane which is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the housing. A rod with a cone is inserted into the hole in the housing. Three measuring supports are fitted in the radial holes in the housing in form of a ball without possibility of falling out of the housing. Movement of the rod along the housing is restricted by an arrester fitted in the rod through a groove whose length corresponds to the path of the rod in the housing. The main scale is placed on the cylindrical section of the rod. A vernier is screwed onto the housing.
EFFECT: simple design and more accurate measurement.
