FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to iron industry, namely to melting methods of rail steel in electric furnaces. Method involves supply of metal scrap and liquid iron as metal charge to arc-type electric steel-making furnace, melting, oxidation period, steel making in batches, hot metal tapping with slag and some part of metal left in furnace, ladle addition during production of solid slag-forming mixture, reducing agents and alloys, finishing of steel as to temperature and chemical compound at ladle-furnace unit. Pouring of liquid iron with content of silicone of not more than 0.40% and phosphorus of not more 0.09% in quantity of 35-80% of charge size together with ladle slag with FeO content of less than 3% and CaO/SiO2=2.1-4.3 ratio and in quantity of 0.5-6.0% of charge size is performed to the slag and some part of metal left in furnace; after pouring there performed is charging of metal scrap in quantity of 20-65% of charge size and lime in quantity of 1.5-3.8% of charge size; during melting and oxidation period there performed is gaseous oxygen blowing with flow rate of 6000-13000 m3/h, lime addition in quantity of 0.3-1.1% of size mass in portions of 50-200 kg and injection of carbon-containing powder with intensity of 15-90 kg/min.
EFFECT: method allows improving steel quality, decreasing lime and electric power consumption.
