SUBSTANCE: washing machine of a drum-type contains a reservoir mounted in the frame body and where the wash water should be delivered, the drum located with an ability to rotate in the tank, an electric motor which provides rotation of the drum, a control unit that regulates the speed of the electric motor to provide rotation of the drum with a given speed so that wash water circulates along the inner circumferential surface of the tank for its cleaning, and equipment for steam delivery, which is controlled by the control unit to supply high-temperature high-pressure steam into the reservoir and the drum. Method of cleaning the tank of washing machine of a drum-type includes a stage of accumulation of water when washing water flows into the reservoir to accumulate it in the tank, a stage of soaking when high-temperature high-pressure steam is supplied to the tank and the drum, and the cleaning operation when washing water in the tank circulates along the inner circumferential surface by adjusting the frequency of rotation of the drum to clean the inside circumferential surface of the tank.

EFFECT: creation of a washing machine and method of cleaning the tank of a washing machine, which ensures easy cleaning of all internal circumferential surface of the tank without using an additional device.
