FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used in forging car half shafts and other rod-plus-flange forgings. Proposed method comprises cutting the billet, heating the billet upset section, first and second built-up upset ends, performing flange and final forming of forging. Flange performing is performed by made and female dies with tapered, spherical or toroidal surfaces. Said surfaces allow producing oriented fibrous structure on flange top or bottom surface and nearby rod-to-flange transition. Besides, said surfaces allow uniform flow of metal nearby said transition.
EFFECT: higher quality.
